Introduction
During the
Korean War the North lost approximately 600,000 men
and suffered nearly two million casualties. The Chinese
lost one million. The South lost 70,000; had 150,000
wounded and 80,000 were captured from the military (most
of whom died). There were also a million casualties
from the civilian population.
33,600 Americans
were killed and 103,200 were wounded. Thousands more
were held prisoner by the communist military. This section
examines conflicting accounts and versions of the POW's
experience.
