When you study history it is sometimes easy to get the feeling that the past is a very strange place and that the people you study in the past are completely different from people today. In some ways this is true. However, in many ways people in the Middle Ages were very similar to modern people. They had work to do (unless they were very rich) but they also had time for enjoying themselves.
