The 2001 Skol World Championships

Event date 2001
Event venue

Purfleet, Essex

The most prestigious event in the darts calendar took place once again in the wildest venue in modern darts, the Circus Tavern in Purfleet , Essex from 29 December 2000 - 6th January 2001.

This event featured the top 32 PDC ranked players battling it out for a prize-fund of over £200,000. Although the event saw some close-run matches, notably Canadian John Part's narrow semi-final win 6 - 5 over Rod Harrington from Essex, the final turned out to be a one sided affair. Phil Taylor won his ninth World Championship and his seventh in succession when he whitewashed John Part 7 - 0.
